De freakfabriek

Kleng, kleng, kleng,
de machines van de freakfabriek
stampen voort.

Vibrerend, golvend en pulserend
in een afgelegen oord,
je verstand overboord.

Many times we have tried to find a right definition of underground. And especially underground tekno. Underground is not just another word for Unpopular. It's music with the aim of change!

Our choice of music is primarily electronic music. Music created with the aid of electricity. Thus generating new sounds without any cultural stigmas! Cultural stigmas that need to be overthrown. By using the untapped energy potential of sound, the wall between cultures and races will be destroyed much the same as certain frequencies shatter glass: it is sacred to no one race; it has no definitive sound. It is music for the future of the human race. Without this music there will be no peace, no vision, no love. Isn't it obvious that music and dance are the keys to the universe? So called primitive animals and tribal humans have known this for thousands of years. click here for the master-plan ... (realplayer file!)

We should prevent that tekno music gets dull, unartistic and visionless. But the so-called message that tekno needs to prosper seems almost disappeared! But this age is asking for musical anarchy and music with a message! What do you think?

PROGRESSION
 Eyot | G. van Veen

Music is a drug. A powerful drug with weird properties. It makes your heart beat faster, makes your blood run faster... It can express every atmosphere or emotion, and can also change atmosphere or emotion... It makes your feelings stronger, or eases pain... It arouses you, makes you melancholic, makes you fall in love, increases your anger, takes you on a psychedelic trip... Music has got a whole range of magical properties, like all shamans in every part of the world know. Music is intangible, music is magic.

One of the most strangest properties of music is the way it can store atmospheres and emotions. Like a mental taperecorder, that records numerous feelings and thoughts at the same time. As so, every piece of music that has sounded in one period or another owns memories of that time. Like a photoalbum, that comes to life if you hear a piece of music again.

Every period of time in musical history created its own soundtrack, that will be bounded to that era forever. In the hearts of millions of people. That explains the success of all the revivals, golden oldie festivals, radiostations that only transmit "those classics": for whole generations they are the echo of that good ol'time (when we were young). That can be very pleasent of course, but it should not lead to conservatism.

Conservatism is one of the biggest diseases of pop music nowadays. What once was a musical style for young people, is now a musical style for all ages, that seem to preferably look back at those good ol'days. Which regrettably for them, lie behind us. There was a moment though, let's say 1986/'87, where it seemed that pop music reached its creative end. At least, this was being said by a bunch of pop journalists and radiojocks, that were waiting for a "new punk revolution". And with a big melancholy refered to this wonderful music that was once being made.

"Once" has for everybody a different meaning though. It could be the very first rock&roll, the sixties, old soul, punk or avantgarde music from the beginning of the eighties. What a depressing thought that everything was better in the old days... Very conservative as well. The history of art teaches us that such an idea is always defended by the established order, that are anxious to save their own skin.

Who says that only good music was made in those old days, is only saying that he or she has lost the ability to get carried away by music, or at least new music. So very little has changed since the sixties, when young bands had to fight against an older generation with aged opinions. In the nineties and naughties, the younger generation has to deal with the conservatism of the established pop world, that is being hold by big money making musicfactories (the majors) and their artists who are in fact slaves of the established order. The fact someone was "in" the sixties, doesn't seem to give a guarantee for a progressive view on the nineties!!

Bad luck for them... All special, new music is still growing, despite of this repression. And that's the way it should be!!! Doing things that are prohibited, breaking rules and stupid established laws, being progressive: there is only little less the new generation likes more. This makes that pop music, or just how you call it, is constantly moving. The ideas of the new generation are getting a new sound that seems to be broader than ever. Nothing is black or white anymore: borders are broken and new things are being explored... and hopefully they will be explored to the max.

CONSERVATISM LEADS TO STAGNATION!

CONSERVATISM DOESN'T REPRESENT OUR IDEAS!

CONSERVATISM SHOULD BE BROKEN!

PUSH THE LIMIT FORWARD AND LOOK AT WHAT FUTURE BRINGS US!
